Arboretum Lifestyle and Garden Centre, based in Leighlinbridge near Carlow, is a family run business, established from small beginnings by husband and wife team, Rachael and Frank Doyle in 1978. Through dedication, enthusiasm and a passion for the business the Arboretum has established themselves as one of Europe’s leading garden centers.

A  high level of customer service, a huge range of products and a friendly welcome, has earned them the title of Bord Bia’s first ever Five Star Garden Centre and numerous other awards including – Best Customer Service and Garden Centre of the Year.

The Arboretum place special emphasis on having a highly trained and knowledgeable workforce, and has also won awards for Excellence in people for the level of regular training and skills updating that the staff receive.

Based on a ten acre site, Arboretum provides the complete lifestyle experience with a pets store, restaurant, homeware, giftware, furniture and a qualified team of plant experts all under the one roof.

“We had a traditional CCTV system installed on the site; but as part of a major development project in 2004 we decided to look at the site security as a whole”, says Frank Doyle co-founder and co-owner of Arboretum.

“We decided that the Netwatch system looked like a good idea so we spoke to David Walsh, Group CEO of Netwatch, and their engineers designed a perimeter detection CCTV system that gives an early warning in real time if any intruders enter the area around the site”.

“Netwatch have picked up intruders on several occasions, adds Frank, and having a live update from the site when there is an issue is invaluable. If the monitoring centre rings me with an issue, I know what to expect if myself and the key holders are responding to the call”.

“In 2010 we needed to expand the system again due to another development plan; and we upgraded our recording facility to a fully digital networked system which has meant that it is really easy to find and distribute CCTV images for the police if necessary”.

“We love the Netwatch system so much that I had the system installed at our house also, says Rachael. The peace of mind that it gives is simply unbelievable; I said to Netwatch that you could take the dishwasher, fridge and television, as long as you left the Netwatch system in place”, laughs Rachael.
