Carlow based visual monitoring company Netwatch hosted their inaugural Employee of the Year Awards in late January in the Seven Oaks Hotel.

The event was a celebration of employees who have gone above and beyond for Netwatch in the past year and the achievements of the Netwatch team as a whole.

David Walsh, Managing Director of Netwatch spoke about the need to recognize and acclaim those who have excelled in their roles throughout the past year and how despite the barrage of bad news from an economic perspective, Netwatch as a team rose to the challenges and through hardwork and dedication grew the business significantly in 2010.

The Award Winners on the night included 2 Special Merit Awards; the first to Martin Murphy, an Installation Engineer with Netwatch who was described by his peers as “nothing less than exceptional at his job” and by customers as being “one of a kind” and an employee that “they would dearly love to have.” The other Special Merit Award was presented to Command Centre Supervisor, Fergal Gleeson and he was described as an exemplary employee with fantastic natural leadership ability that constantly motivates and challenges his team to achieve excellence in everything that they do.

The Long Service Award went to Colin Hayes who has recently moved from his traditional sales role to the new position of Customer Service Director within Netwatch. According to David Walsh, the award was in recognition of the immense quantity and quality of work which Colin has undertaken throughout his years with the company, joining when it was just a fledging.

The night, of course, belonged to the Overall Winner of the Employee of the Year 2010 Award, Customer Service Manager; Jim Holland. A man who was praised as ‘never failing to find time to assist customers or colleagues alike’ and ‘who displays a dedication which is unsurpassed’. Jim Holland was an extremely popular winner and received a standing ovation from his fellow employees as he accepted the award.

‘It is a given these days that you have the best equipment, systems and finance’, said Sean Keohane, Guest Speaker and extremely successful Businessman himself, ‘but success is built solely on excellent people and excellent service, no matter what business you are in.’
